Stefano Boeri's 'Gate of Hope' installed at Brescia prison as part of international art and education initiative

Stefano Boeri Architetti has completed the Gate of Hope installation at the Nerio Fischione Penitentiary in Brescia. This work is part of the broader international project called Porte della Speranza (Gates of Hope), which focuses on blending art, education, and chances for transformation within prison environments in Italy and Portugal. Running through 2026, the initiative includes ten correctional facilities across both countries. It is funded by the Gravissimum Educationis Foundation, linked to the Holy See's Dicastery for Culture and Education, and collaborates with the Italian Ministry of Justice, the Jubilee Committee for Culture and Education, and Rampello & Partners, receiving support from Fondazione Cariplo. The project invites prominent contemporary artists to create gates that reflect the prison context.
