Stanislav Abrahám Releases Mining Sound Collage 'Důl Lazy'

Stanislav Abrahám has released 'Důl Lazy', a 43-minute sound collage divided into seven parts, assembled from audio recordings originally made in 2010 for an unrealized audiovisual installation at the National Technical Museum in Prague's Exhibition of Mining. The recordings capture the now-closed Důl Lazy mine in Ostrava, which ceased operations in 2019. The work blends industrial sounds—machinery, pneumatic tubes, an underground train—with human elements like miners' Ostrava dialect and a cricket's song. Abrahám's careful selection and juxtaposition transform the industrial environment into a listening experience that oscillates between testimony and composition. The closure of the mine adds historical value, making the album both a document of a vanished world and an autonomous sound art piece. The album is available on Bandcamp via LOM label.
