Spring Museum Exhibitions Across the U.S. Feature Morisot, Van Herpen, Duchamp, and Hujar

Multiple U.S. museums are presenting spring exhibitions that explore nature through art. The Brooklyn Museum hosts the North American debut of 'Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses' from May 16 through December 6, featuring the Dutch fashion designer's technologically advanced couture displayed alongside contemporary art and natural specimens. At the Museum of Modern Art, a comprehensive Marcel Duchamp retrospective runs through August 22, marking the first major U.S. survey of his work in over fifty years with 300 objects including a 1950 replica of his 1917 'Fountain'. The Morgan Library & Museum presents an exhibition on photographer Peter Hujar from May 22 to October 25, tracing his evolution through more than 110 contact sheets that document downtown New York's artistic community in the 1970s and 1980s. Berthe Morisot's 1873 painting 'Reading' is on view in Cleveland, depicting tranquil green pastures. Other displays include 'Nature Deficit Disorder' in Baltimore, which encourages indoor outdoor experiences, and exhibits in New York State and Worcester, Massachusetts, that transform natural settings into art spaces.
