Spring 2026 Sees Release of Five Notable Photography Books

Five new photobooks are scheduled for publication in spring 2026, continuing the tradition of the medium as a key platform for disseminating photographic work. The releases include 'Luigi Ghirri: Felicita,' curated by director Luca Guadagnino and visual artist Alessio Bolzoni and published by MACK Books. This volume presents a selection of both well-known and previously unpublished images by the Italian photographer, accompanied by three essays written by Ghirri. Richard Hay Jr.'s 'Resounding with Echoes: Sojourns across Africa and America,' published by Kehler Verlag, explores historical and cultural connections between West Africa and the Americas through a mix of black-and-white and color images from the 1970s, avoiding stereotypical depictions. 'Harry Gruyaert: New York,' from Thames & Hudson, features the Belgian photographer's decades-long documentation of New York City, with photographs presented in a cinematic layout alongside fictional texts by filmmaker Cédric Klapisch. Marina Sersale's 'Liminal Space,' published by GOST Books, collects over ten years of black-and-white work capturing ambiguous, intimate moments in her native Rome. Finally, 'Elliott Erwitt's Kolor,' released by teNeues, presents a curated selection of vibrant color images from the photographer's extensive archive of Kodachrome slides, spanning over 70 years and featuring diverse subjects from public figures to everyday scenes. The photobook has been historically significant since the 19th century, with figures like Martin Parr emphasizing its role in reaching audiences beyond gallery walls.
