Spirited Away Stage Adaptation Announces World Tour with North American Debut

In 2026, a world tour of Hayao Miyazaki's 'Spirited Away' will commence, marking its eagerly awaited debut in North America. Directed by John Caird, famed for 'Les Misérables', this production is brought to life by Japanese entertainment company Toho, featuring a live orchestral performance of Joe Hisaishi's renowned film score. The tour kicks off with a two-month engagement at Taipei's National Theater from December 2026 to January 2027, followed by a three-month run at Tokyo's Meijiza Theater. It will then head to Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre from May to August 2027, and the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles from September to October 2027. The show will return to London's West End Coliseum from March to July 2028. After its successful debut in 2022 at Tokyo's Imperial Theatre and a sold-out London run in 2024, the performances will be in Japanese with English captions. Douglas C. Baker, producing director at Center Theatre Group, expressed enthusiasm about the Los Angeles engagement. Priority booking for the U.S. performances will be available to subscribers of Center Theatre Group for the 2026/27 season, while Mirvish Productions will provide a mailing list for Toronto ticket access.
