Spanish Film Commission Report: Audiovisual Production Investment in Spain Rises 45% to €5.68 Billion by 2025

Investment in Spanish audiovisual production climbed from €3.93 billion in 2022 to €5.68 billion in 2025, a 45% increase over three years, according to an economic, social and territorial impact study presented by the Spanish Film Commission on Tuesday during the San Sebastián Film Festival. The study draws on official national sources and applies a specific methodology to estimate the direct, indirect and induced effects of audiovisual production. Its direct-spending indicator covers companies' operating costs, including purchases of goods and services and personnel expenses. The report frames film and series production as profitable, with annual revenues exceeding €5 billion. The presentation coincided with the festival's promotion of Guitarricadelafuente, Miguel Bernardeau and the young cast of 'La bola negra', who said in a statement that those who speak nostalgically about the Civil War do so out of ignorance. The findings position audiovisual production as a major economic driver within Spain's cultural sector.
