Spanish Film Academy Launches Prison Program with Screenings and Workshops

The Spanish Film Academy (Academia de Cine) has launched a program bringing professional training workshops, creative activities, screenings, and meetings with industry professionals to prisons across Spain, starting at Madrid IV Penitentiary Center in Navalcarnero. On Wednesday, 250 inmates attended a screening of Eva Libertad's debut film 'Sorda' (Deaf), followed by a discussion with its lead actor Álvaro Cervantes. Inmate José Manuel stated, 'It's not just about reintegration; seeing something from outside does us good.' Fellow inmate Fernando added, 'In prison we always have the same routine. This morning I would have gotten up, gone to the gym, worked—doing different things I love.' The program aims to provide vocational training and creative outlets, offering inmates a perspective on life beyond bars.
