Spanish bookstores and publishers rally behind Eva Orúe after her dismissal as Madrid Book Fair director

Eva Orúe, writer and journalist, has been dismissed as director of the Madrid Book Fair after five years in the role. The decision was made by the Madrid Booksellers Association, which cited only a desire to start 'a new stage' as the reason. In response, several bookstores and publishers—including Hoja de Lata, Dos Bigotes, Tránsito, Comisura, Alberti, Sigilo, Muñeca Infinita, and Grant—have publicly expressed their support for Orúe and demanded an explanation. Grant bookstore shared a message saying, 'We are proud of the path traveled, of everything we achieved, and of having shared this journey with you, which also ends for us.' Sigilo, Tránsito, Muñeca Infinita, and Comisura issued a joint statement expressing concern about the future direction of the fair's model. The dismissal has sparked debate about transparency and the governance of the fair.
