Spain's Culture Ministry Awards €1.15M in Book Publishing Grants

In 2026, Spain's Ministry of Culture will allocate €1.15 million in funding for book publishing initiatives, with the average grant amounting to €6,077.94, reflecting an increase of nearly 15% from the previous year. A total of 189 publishers will benefit from this support across 431 projects, which encompass 166 in literature, 159 in thought, 78 in children's fiction, 22 in illustrated works, and six in reference materials. Proposals related to the Generation of '27 received particular emphasis, in accordance with Royal Decree-Law 8/2025. Notable funded works include those by Federico García Lorca. The grants will facilitate translations, with 270 projects set for publication in both print and digital formats, as part of the Ministry's Reading Promotion Plan 2026-2030, titled 'Reading is a Right!'.
