Sound Quests 2025 Explores Television and World-Building with Daytime Viewing Exhibition

ALMARE, in partnership with Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, presents the fourth edition of Sound Quests, a project examining connections between audio narratives and world-building techniques. The 2025 iteration centers on television as its thematic focus, featuring the rarely exhibited Italian work 'Daytime Viewing' by Jacqueline Humbert and David Rosenboom from 1979-80. The exhibition runs from January 24 to February 16, 2025. An opening event on January 23 includes a listening session dedicated to this piece. A seminar scheduled for January 31 will explore themes from 'Daytime Viewing' and expand discussion to identity and social media, featuring presentations by composer David Rosenboom, American artist Victoria Keddie—known for her 'E.S.P. TV' project investigating television—and Gabriele Marino, a University of Turin scholar specializing in semiotics, social media, and viral content. The seminar day concludes with a screening of Victoria Keddie's 'Daytime Viewing Primetime.' This edition continues Sound Quests' annual practice of concentrating on specific media references while investigating sonic storytelling's expressive possibilities.
