Sotheby's to Auction Major Private Photography Collection This Spring

Sotheby's will hold a series of auctions this spring featuring The Jill and Marshall Rose Collection, a notable private holding of 20th century American and European modernist photography. Assembled primarily in the 1980s by Jill Kupin Rose and Marshall Rose, the collection includes 20 photographs and works on paper that are fresh to the market, noted for their rarity and historical importance. A highlight is Edward Steichen's 'Balzac, The Open Sky, 11 P.M.' from 1908, estimated to sell for $700,000 to $1 million. The collection has been privately maintained for years and represents the couple's discerning approach to art acquisition.
