market-auction · 2026-10-08

From November 2 to 9, Sotheby’s Paris will host an auction featuring more than 1,400 items from the Al Thani collection, with live bidding scheduled for November 4 to 6. This collection showcases the partnership between Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani and decorator Alberto Pinto, who transformed the private hôtel particulier located on Avenue Floquet. Mario Tavella, President of Sotheby’s France, highlighted the collection's remarkable variety, which includes Old Master paintings, European decorative arts, Art Déco, and 20th-century portraiture. Notable pieces consist of works by Bernard Boutet de Monvel, a portrait of Elizabeth I, and furniture crafted by Diego Giacometti. Although items will be displayed in Sotheby’s showrooms, the original residence will not be available for tours.
