Sophie Hannah Sends Miss Marple to the Swiss Alps in First Authorized New Novel
Sophie Hannah is set to write the first full Miss Marple book since Agatha Christie’s last one, Sleeping Murder, which was published posthumously 50 years ago this October. The story is set at the Grand Alpine Hotel in the Swiss Alps, where the iconic detective is taking a break. Since 2013, Hannah has been creating official Poirot stories, inspired by her grandmother’s tales. Miss Marple debuted in Christie’s 1927 story, The Tuesday Night Club, and has appeared in 12 novels and 20 short stories. Interestingly, Hannah found out that Death on the Nile was initially intended for Miss Marple. The new book will delve into themes of aging and societal change, but the release date is still unknown.
