Sony RX10 V Bridge Camera Launches at $2,299 with Upgraded Body and AI

Sony announced the RX10 V bridge camera, succeeding the RX10 IV from 2017. The new model retains the 20.1-megapixel stacked Type 1 Exmor RS CMOS sensor and Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 24-600mm f/2.4-4 lens but upgrades nearly everything else. The body is redesigned to resemble Alpha-series cameras, with a new menu, AF joystick, larger 0.5-type 3.69M dot EVF, and NP-FZ100 battery offering 50% more life. It adds USB-C, 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and a Multi Interface Shoe. The Bionz XR processor with AI enables Real-time Recognition AF for people, animals, and vehicles, plus Real-time Tracking via touchscreen. Continuous shooting reaches 30 fps blackout-free. Video now includes 4Kp60 full-width, 4Kp120 with crop, 4:2:2 10-bit All-I, S&Q, live streaming at 4Kp30, Active Mode stabilization, S-Cinetone, S-Log3, and user LUTs. Preorder price is $2,299 in the US and $2,899 in Canada, with shipping around August 6. The RX10 IV is discontinued but used units sell for up to $3,000.
