Solange Pessoa's First Spanish Solo Show at Centro Botín

Centro Botín in Santander will host the first Spanish solo exhibition of Brazilian artist Solange Pessoa (born 1961 in Ferros) in autumn 2026. Titled 'Del día o de la noche' and curated by Bárbara Rodríguez Muñoz, the show spans over three decades of work, including new productions made for the venue. Pessoa's practice, rooted in Minas Gerais, uses organic and mineral materials like earth, leather, wax, human hair, bronze, and textiles to explore body, landscape, memory, and spirituality. Her work references indigenous and Afro-Brazilian traditions, Minas Gerais baroque, arte povera, land art, and surrealism. The exhibition will feature large-scale installations and works centered on the horse as a historical and mythological symbol. Pessoa gained international visibility after her participation in the 2022 Venice Biennale and recent shows at Aspen Art Museum, Tramway Glasgow, and Kunsthaus Bregenz.
