Snøhetta Unveils Design for Beijing Art Museum Featuring Central Atrium

The architecture firm Snøhetta, in collaboration with the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (BIAD), has revealed its design for the Beijing Art Museum. Construction began on December 31 above a metro line in Beijing's Tongzhou district. The design features a series of rectangular gallery volumes arranged around a central circular atrium, intended to serve as a cultural hub for the local community and stimulate area development. The museum will house various artworks and include landscape elements with water features and sculptures. This will be Snøhetta's second major cultural building in Beijing, following the Beijing City Library which opened in 2023.
