Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History Opens Major Exhibition for U.S. 250th Anniversary

Opening June 18, the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History presents "From These Lands: Sharing Our Natural and Cultural Heritage," a 5,000-square-foot exhibition featuring over 600 rarely displayed specimens and cultural objects from all 50 states, Washington D.C., and five U.S. territories. Drawing from the museum's collection of 148 million items, the display includes ancient fossils, minerals, cultural belongings, and scientific discoveries that illustrate connections between people, places, and nature. The exhibition will remain on view through December 2029, serving as a centerpiece for the nation's 250th anniversary commemoration. Visitors will encounter materials showcasing American geology, natural diversity, and cultural traditions in a comprehensive exploration of shared heritage.
