Slawn unveils monumental paintings in New York for World Cup final weekend
Slawn, the London-based Nigerian artist born in 2000, presents three monumental 5 x 5-metre paintings at Saatchi Yates's inaugural New York exhibition, Slawn on W18th, opening 17 July 2026 at 456 West 18th Street in Chelsea. Developed in partnership with Nike, the show coincides with the FIFA World Cup final weekend. One of the paintings served as the source for Nike's Nigerian national team kit for the World Cup, designed by Slawn earlier this year. The works feature his signature crowd-of-faces motif in acid green, black-on-white, and charcoal greyscale, densely layered with cartoon faces and looping lines. Slawn's practice spans contemporary art, fashion, music, and sport, blending Yoruba heritage with youth culture and satirical social commentary. He previously designed the 2023 BRIT Awards trophy (becoming the youngest artist to do so) and redesigned the FA Cup in 2024. His work also appeared on 21 Savage's 2025 album What Happened to the Streets?. Slawn has created defaced versions of luxury brands including Rolex, Louis Vuitton, and Rimowa. He is championed by figures such as Skepta, Central Cee, Dave, A$AP Rocky, and Wizkid.
