Six performers and artists who served as diplomats

Freddy Lim, frontman of Taiwanese heavy-metal band Chthonic, was appointed Taiwan's envoy to Finland in May 2025, leveraging his musical connections to foster diplomacy. Lim served in Taiwan's parliament from 2016 to 2024 and sees metal as a universal language to build understanding. Taiwan maintains only 12 diplomatic allies due to pressure from China, which claims the island as a province. Lim has performed several times in Finland since his appointment.
