Singulart's Disposable Camera Series Turns to Donatella Marraoni

Donatella Marraoni is the featured contemporary artist in Singulart's A Day in Your Artful Life series, for which she documented her daily surroundings using a disposable camera. The resulting photographs shift between interiors crowded with paintings, sunlit Italian streets, and small encounters with animals and gardens. Colour dominates the studio images: a wall of canvases sets reds, blues and golden yellows against dark grounds, while a close-up of a floral painting shows flowers layered over green, orange and soft pink. The camera also records the messier side of production, with shelves of paint bottles, brushes and jars, and portraits built from overlapping brushstrokes. One frame catches Marraoni's own reflection in glass, disposable camera in hand — an accidental self-portrait. Outdoors, the palette changes to the warm tones of Italian architecture: narrow stone-paved streets, weathered façades, quiet archways and the entrance to a Bottega d'Arte whose window is filled with paintings. Spontaneous images follow — a white chicken beside a terracotta pot, ducks in grass, a golden-feathered bird, a garden pond under greenery. Soft blur, grain and sun-washed frames give the set a nostalgic cast, since film offers no instant preview.
