Singapore Man Traumatized by AI-Generated Fake Family Posts Using His Photos

A Singapore man, pseudonymously named Luke, was traumatized after discovering an ex-schoolmate used his social media photos to AI-generate a fake family life. The woman created posts depicting Luke as her partner and father of her children, using images from Luke's profile and his sister's children. The AI-generated images altered Luke's clothing and added a baby, partially obscured by emoji sunglasses for realism. Luke's sister was alerted by a friend and attempted to contact the woman without response. After weeks, Luke recognized the woman as a former schoolmate from 15 years ago, with whom he had spoken only two sentences. The woman's fabricated life included date photos, family portraits, and pregnancy images. Following public exposure on Threads, others reported the woman impersonating Luke via fake profiles. Luke and his sister have since made their social media private, and Luke is seeking a protection order under Singapore's Harassment Act. The incident highlights risks of AI misuse for identity theft and emotional manipulation.
