Simon Baker Reveals Life-Changing Books and Film Influences in CULTURED Interview

In a recent CULTURED interview, Simon Baker, recognized for his roles in The Mentalist and The Devil Wears Prada 2, shares insights into his literary preferences and cinematic inspirations. He stars alongside Nicole Kidman in the 2026 series Scarpetta, adapted from Patricia Cornwell's works. As a child growing up in Australia with ADHD, Baker struggled with reading. However, at 14, he discovered Richard Bach's Jonathan Livingston Seagull, which ignited his passion for literature, followed by Carlos Castaneda's The Teachings of Don Juan at 16. His reading repertoire includes books on filmmaking and self-discovery. Recently, he collaborated with Taika Waititi on Klara and the Sun, who humorously revealed Baker's cut from the project. He envisions his memoir titled Before I Forget.
