Silverlens to Present Wawi Navarroza's The Orchid Pavilion

From August 29 to October 3, 2026, Silverlens gallery will showcase The Orchid Pavilion, the inaugural segment of Wawi Navarroza's trilogy titled "The Double-Naveled and Triple-Tongued, A Tropical Gothic Troika." This exhibition is inspired by the transpacific interactions and cultural exchanges influenced by the Manila Galleons, emphasizing the pan-Asian heritage of the Philippines, with a particular focus on the Chinese impact on Filipino identity. Navarroza draws on literature and poetry to delve into the Philippines' intricate history. The exhibition's title alludes to the renowned Orchid Pavilion Gathering of 353 CE, where the esteemed Chinese calligrapher Wang Xizhi penned the "Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion" (Lantingji Xiu), a cornerstone of Chinese literary tradition. This event is part of a broader trilogy that explores the Philippines' rich cultural landscape.
