Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi has been appointed president of the Sharjah Museums Authority by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah. The decree states: “Our vision is to be a cultural beacon that strengthens Sharjah’s identity locally and internationally and contribute to forming a community aware of the importance of museums as a cultural, educational and enjoyable destination.” As reported by The National, under her leadership the Sharjah Art Foundation and the Sharjah Biennale have grown into one of the region's most important contemporary art institutions, with programs including exhibitions, commissions, residencies, publications, performances, screenings, and educational initiatives. She is also linked to the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, the Africa Institute (Global Studies University), and the University of the Arts Sharjah. Internationally, she served as artistic director of the Aichi Triennale 2025 in Japan and the Biennale of Sydney 2026 in Australia.
