Set Decorators on the Nantucket-Inspired Interiors of Peacock's 'The Five Star Weekend'

Set decorator Barbara Cassel and production designer Scott Dougan discuss the design of the Nantucket estate in Peacock's series 'The Five Star Weekend', based on Elin Hilderbrand's novel. Exteriors were filmed at 45 Eel Point Road, while interiors were built on soundstages in Los Angeles. Cassel sourced props from West Coast antique shops like The Agoura Antique Mart and shipped island-themed accessories from Nantucket stores including Nantucket Looms, Bodega, Nantucket House Antiques, Antiques Depot, Four Winds Gifts, It's a Shore Thing, and Hospital Thrift Shop. Artworks by Fairfield Porter, Eric Aho, Shane Neufeld, and Sheridan Lord were used, and photography books by Joel Meyerowitz, Mitch Epstein, Stephen Shore, and Nan Goldin informed the aesthetic. Paint colors include Farrow & Ball's Stone Blue, Benjamin Moore's Bainbridge Blue, Fair Isle Blue, and Cedar Path. Wallpapers feature Schumacher's Canopy – Multi-Birds, Susan Hable's Floating Lotus for Soicher Marin, and Chesapeake's Imperial Garden Green Botanical and Leeward Sailboat. Fabrics were sourced from Brunschwig & Fils, Cowtan & Tout, Clarence House, and Pindler at the Pacific Design Center. The kitchen includes Wolf, Sub-Zero, KitchenAid, and Williams Sonoma. Real Nantucket locations recreated on soundstages include The Chicken Box, and spa designs reference The Nantucket Hotel, The White Elephant, and The Summer House.
