Serpentine Launches AI Art Fellowship with Four Artists
In London, the Serpentine Gallery has introduced the Future Art Ecosystems R&D Fellowship, which will benefit four artists: Alice Bucknell, Reina Mun, Alfredo Salazar-Caro, and Auriea Harvey. Each artist will receive £10,000 and six months of mentorship focused on researching the cultural effects of AI. The judging panel features Refik Anadol, Cao Fei, Lila Ibrahim (COO of Google DeepMind), and Mariana Mazzucato (UCL Professor). Supported by the Glass Castle Foundation, led by Suneil Setiya, the fellowship aims to bridge the gap between art and technology. Projects include Bucknell's 'Medium Sized World,' Mun's AI definitions, Salazar-Caro's exploration of post-digital architecture, and Harvey's craft study. Additionally, Serpentine has partnered with Formafantasma for ecological advice, and an archive display titled 'processing…' will be available until 6 September.
