Sergio Gonçalves Gallery Opens Rio Space with Carlos Araujo Exhibition

Sergio Gonçalves Gallery has launched a new venue in Rio de Janeiro with the exhibition 'O olhar como origem!' by artist Carlos Araujo. The show, curated by gallery founder Sergio Gonçalves, commemorates his 40-year career in the art market, which began in 1986. It highlights his long-term dedication to promoting modern and contemporary Brazilian art through close artist relationships and a focus on painting. Araujo, known for engaging with biblical themes without literal narratives, presents works that blend figuration and abstraction, transforming traditional references into visual compositions marked by color fields and formal contrasts. The exhibition includes pieces from various periods of his career, featuring both recent and previously unseen paintings, with titles such as 'O Nascimento de Jesus' and 'A Crucificação' reflecting his ongoing exploration of biblical imagery.
