Scottish National War Memorial Centenary Display Announced
The National War Museum at Edinburgh Castle will host 'The Art of Commemoration' from 5 December 2026 to 14 January 2029, exploring the creation of the Scottish National War Memorial ahead of its centenary. The memorial was officially opened on 14 July 1927 by Edward, Prince of Wales, concluding a decade-long planning, fundraising, and construction effort. The display brings together original architectural drawings, artworks, archival materials, and objects tracing the memorial's evolution from initial discussions in 1917 to its opening and ongoing role in commemorating Scottish military service.
