Saxophone Concerts at Museo Picasso Málaga Accompany Elena Asins Exhibition

Museo Picasso Málaga will host two experimental saxophone concerts on April 22 and 23, 2025, at 8 PM, each lasting one hour. Performers Elisa Urrestarazu and Fernando Laguna will play solo and duet pieces alongside Elena Asins's installation "Antígona" (2015), creating a sonic dialogue with the artist's conceptual and formal universes. The concerts are part of the temporary exhibition "Elena Asins. Antígona," on view until May 3, 2025. Urrestarazu's program includes works by Scelsi, Jodlowski, and Eneko Vadillo, exploring various saxophone registers and sonorities, complemented by improvisations based on the Fibonacci series with Laguna. Tickets cost 12 euros per concert and are available online at www.museopicassomalaga.org or at the museum's box office. Asins's large-scale corten steel installation uses Greek characters to form the name Antígona, referencing Sophocles's tragedy and themes of structure, language, mathematics, seriality, minimalism, repetition, ethics, and tragic tension. The music aims to amplify and reinterpret these concepts through abstract sound and resonance.
