Sara Ricciardi creates immersive geode installation Resonance for Pasqua Vini at Palazzo Maffei in Verona

Sara Ricciardi, born in Benevento in 1989, was selected from over 200 candidates to create a site-specific installation for Pasqua Vini. Her work, titled Resonance, is installed in the newly restored Monastery space of Palazzo Maffei in Verona. The immersive piece uses lights, sounds, and colors to represent the collaboration between Riccardo Pasqua, his family, and internationally renowned winemaker Charles Smith. Ricciardi conceived the installation as a monumental, life-sized geode, a stone temple that visitors can enter, experiencing a seven-minute ritual passage from darkness to vibrant light. The artist drew inspiration from the contrast between the geode's plain exterior and rich interior, symbolizing the dynamic meeting of distinct identities that generates something entirely new. The project, described as a challenge that pushed her beyond previous work, aims to fuse innovation with tradition. Pasqua Vini granted her complete trust, accepting the proposal sight unseen. Resonance is open to the public with free admission by accreditation from April 10 to 14, from 9:00 PM, at Palazzo Maffei in Verona. The installation incorporates programmed synchronous light and sound systems, with materials including sands to reflect the deep hues of red wines and lights evoking the diurnal solar cycle of a vineyard. Ricciardi hopes the work creates a magical, meditative space where visitors can suspend daily reality.
