Santa Fe Opera Extends Harry Bicket's Contract Through 2028, Appoints Iván López Reynoso as Principal Conductor
The Santa Fe Opera has extended Harry Bicket's contract as Music Director through the 2028 season. Bicket, appointed Chief Conductor in 2013 and Music Director in 2018, has led productions including "Pelléas et Mélisande," "Così fan tutte," "Candide," and "Alcina." General Director Robert K. Meya praised Bicket's artistic leadership and highlighted his 2023 "Pelléas et Mélisande" as a standout. Bicket expressed enthusiasm for continuing his work with the orchestra and staff. Additionally, Iván López Reynoso will become Principal Conductor starting in the 2027 season. Reynoso made his American debut with the company in 2022 conducting "The Barber of Seville" and returned for "La bohème" and the first Apprentice Concert with orchestra in 2025. He will collaborate with Bicket and leadership on mainstage productions.
