San Casciano Bronzes Exhibition Extended in Berlin Through November

The exhibition 'The Bronzes of San Casciano' at Berlin's James-Simon-Galerie has been extended until November 9, 2025. The display features remarkable bronze statues from the 2nd and 1st centuries BCE discovered in San Casciano dei Bagni, Italy. According to Martin Maischberger, designated director of the Antikensammlung, the artifacts represent votive offerings from a healing sanctuary at thermal springs, providing insights into Etruscan-Roman cultural exchange, religious practices, and ancient medical knowledge. The exhibition came to Berlin following a significant restitution of looted cultural artifacts to Italy by the Antikensammlung in 2024, which prompted Italian cultural authorities to grant this special loan. After closing, the bronzes will return to Italy for restoration and eventual permanent display in San Casciano.
