Samuel de Saboia's Second Solo Show at MARUANI MERCIER Explores Identity Through Musical Painting

MARUANI MERCIER will host Samuel de Saboia's second solo exhibition, named The Aesthetics of Possibility, from April 4 to April 26, 2026, at their location in Knokke. The Brazilian artist's new pieces feature flowing lines that form clusters of faces and figures, balancing harmony with tension. By employing a vibrant color scheme and larger brushstrokes, de Saboia weaves together various narratives in his art. Drawing from his musical and performance background, the works show an improvisational flair, with lines reminiscent of sound waves. His notable piece, All Leads to This / Self Transformation, highlights interactive body outlines. This exhibition marks a new direction in his exploration of identity, memory, and belonging. Born in Recife, Brazil in 1998, he studied Architecture and Graphic Design. In 2026, he’ll also have a solo show, Introduction to Infinity, at Farol Santander in Brazil. His art is part of collections at LACMA, Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, and Fundação Marcos Amaro. Past exhibitions include A Bird Called Innocence at Kunsthalle Zurich in 2020 and Imagining Black Diasporas at LACMA in 2025.
