Salvatore Garzillo's Crime Scene Drawings Featured in Milan Exhibition

Salvatore Garzillo, a journalist covering crime for ANSA, is presenting approximately 50 ink and mixed-media drawings at Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan until March 28. The exhibition, titled 'Cartografie umane – appunti di un cronista,' showcases works created during his reporting at police stations, crime scenes, and courtrooms. Garzillo, who uses the pseudonym Salgar, began drawing in 2010 while working in Milan, finding it a therapeutic way to process the dark stories he covers. He maintains separate roles as a journalist, adhering to ethical reporting, and as an artist, exploring emotional responses through drawing. His approach is influenced by investigative techniques, such as the 'rule of three' for observing crime scenes, and he emphasizes that his subjects are human rather than monsters, aiming to understand their transformations.
