Salvador Dalí Sculpture Exhibition Opens at Madrid's Palacio de Gaviria

A permanent exhibition titled 'Dalí infinito' has opened at Madrid's Palacio de Gaviria, featuring sculptures, paintings, illustrations, prints, and drawings by Salvador Dalí from the Clot collection. The exhibition showcases fourteen sculptures created by Dalí between 1973 and 1980, which were later enlarged with his authorization, alongside works on paper that reflect his diverse interests spanning science, religion, literature, and his muse Gala. The display includes photographs by Jacques Leonard capturing Dalí's private moments. Notable sculptures include 'San Juan Bautista' (1983), 'Cabeza de caballo riendo' (1986), 'Mujer desnuda subiendo escalera' (1979), 'La Crótalos' (1987-1988), 'Cristo de San Juan de la Cruz' (1982-2003), and 'Elefante cósmico' (1981-1986). The exhibition also features literary-inspired pieces like 'Dulcinea' and 'El alma de don Quijote', as well as illustrations from Dalí's early career, including works for Dante's Divine Comedy commissioned by the Italian government for the 1950 Holy Year. The project is supported by the Fundació Gala-Dalí and will rotate pieces over time. Curator Rosa Perales Piqueres noted that Dalí's appreciation for historic buildings makes the restored 19th-century palace an appropriate venue.
