Salvador Dalí's Largest Painting to be Auctioned in Paris Surrealism Sale

A monumental stage set painting by Salvador Dalí, measuring 65 by 98 feet, will be offered at auction in Paris. The work, titled Bacchanale and created in 1939 for a ballet production at the New York Opera House, consists of thirteen panels featuring surrealist imagery including the Mount of Venus, an oversized swan, skulls, and skeletal elements. Bonhams will include the piece in its Surrealism sale on March 26th with an estimated value between €200,000 and €300,000. This represents the biggest canvas the Spanish artist ever produced.
