SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection Exhibition Opens in Jakarta
The Salone del Mobile.Milano has launched its new international tour in Jakarta, Indonesia, where the SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection Exhibition 1998-2026 will be on view from September 18 to October 18 during Indonesia Design Week. Hosted at the Townhall of the Indonesia Design District (IDD) PIK2, the show features 55 objects selected from the SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection, a repository of 415 projects spanning over 27 years of research, innovation, and emerging talent in international design. Following stops in Hong Kong in 2024 and the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, the Jakarta event marks the beginning of a new phase in Salone del Mobile's internationalization strategy. Indonesia was chosen for its status as one of Southeast Asia's most dynamic markets in architecture, interiors, contract, and real estate, offering fertile ground for dialogue between creativity, industry, and development. Founded and curated by Marva Griffin Wilshire, SaloneSatellite has been the Salone del Mobile's platform for designers under 35 since 1998. The Jakarta exhibition is not a simple retrospective but a narrative of how ideas, prototypes, and experiments can transform into products, companies, and international careers through encounters with the production world. Griffin Wilshire stated, 'Bringing the Permanent Collection to Jakarta means continuing to create connections. And demonstrating that talent, when it finds the right context, can travel far.'
