Saint-Eustache restores Keith Haring triptych chapel

The Parisian church Saint-Eustache has completed restoration of the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul chapel, home to Keith Haring's 1990 triptych dedicated to AIDS patients. The chapel's 17th-century painted decorations were uncovered from 19th-century overpaint. The project, supported by the World Monuments Fund and the City of Paris, coincides with the 30th anniversary of Haring's donation to the city, which gifted the work to the church in 1996. The restoration follows earlier work on the south façade (2016) and the western façade (2024, €10 million). Over the past decade, the municipality has committed €20 million to Saint-Eustache through the Conservation des œuvres d'art religieuses et civiles (Coarc). New lighting and Plexiglas interpretive panels have been installed. The church also houses works by Antoine Coysevox, Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, Tintoretto, and Pascal Convert. The WMF is seeking patrons for further chapel restorations.
