Sailor King Eagle Fountain Pen Returns After Decade-Long Hiatus

Sailor has revived its King Eagle specialty nib in 2025 as part of the third generation of Sailor Specialty Nibs, after the line was reportedly discontinued in 2015. The nibs from 2025 are the third generation, those from 2018 are the second generation, and earlier ones are the first generation. A collector who started acquiring Sailor Specialty Nibs in 2015 had been unable to find the King Eagle until now, as it was not released in the second generation. The collector purchased the pen at Aesthetic Bay in Singapore for SGD 3,297 (USD 2,552) including tax. At the shop, the collector noticed that prices for other Sailor Specialty Nibs are now 2.5 to 3 times higher than what was paid for pens a decade ago. Online listings show the pen priced at USD 2,000, €2,000, or SGD 3,300+.
