Rubber Takes Center Stage at Fall 2026 Couture Shows

Rubber, latex, and silicone emerged as a dominant material across the fall 2026 couture collections, challenging traditional notions of high fashion. Schiaparelli's Daniel Roseberry presented a deep-sea-inspired collection featuring latex and silicone, including a poured silicone bust made with a Parisian movie prop studio. Duran Lantink debuted his first couture collection for Jean Paul Gaultier with TPU and latex garments. At Dior, Jonathan Anderson collaborated with artist Lynda Benglis, translating her poured latex works into dresses. Robert Wun opened his show with paint-splattered looks and closed with rubber balloon trains. Law Roach sent a white latex bustier to Zendaya for the London premiere of The Odyssey. Laura Pulice of VEX Clothing, whose latex has been worn by Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and Kim Kardashian, explained that latex cannot be sewn but must be hand-glued panel by panel, a process she equates to couture. Helmut Lang's 1995 rubber dresses remain demi-couture, with only 99 ever made. Rick Owens used heavy-gauge rubber from London-based Florence Druart of Torture Garden Latex for his spring 2027 menswear show. The material's fetishistic associations, noted by John Galliano's 2003 Dior collection, are now giving way to mainstream acceptance.
