RTL Deutschland's chief executive Stephan Schmitter stated in an interview with industry publication dwdl.de that the network should have clarified facts more directly during live broadcasts rather than primarily in the follow-up program 'Die Stunde danach.' He suggested that editorial interventions, such as on-screen text overlays, would have been appropriate. Ofarim, who unexpectedly won the show, faced scrutiny due to a 2021 incident where he falsely claimed on Instagram to be a victim of antisemitic remarks by a Leipzig hotel employee, later admitting in court to fabricating the allegations. During the Dschungelcamp, Ofarim implied that video evidence from the hotel might have been manipulated, prompting criticism from observers who felt RTL inadequately contextualized his statements. The falsely accused hotel employee expressed dismay in an interview with Die Zeit, emphasizing his victimhood, while prosecutors dismissed Ofarim's suggestions as baseless.
