Romilly Newman Designs Armadillo's Manhattan Flagship Showroom

Romilly Newman, a chef and tastemaker, has made her debut in spatial design by styling the new Manhattan flagship store for Australian rug brand Armadillo. The 4,000-square-foot showroom at 1123 Broadway, which opened recently, features original 1897 pine floors, lime-washed walls, and sculptural curves. Newman applied her culinary approach to layering and taste to create a warm, tactile environment where rugs are displayed like garments. Armadillo's creative director Jodie Fried noted the space aims to offer a personal experience of the brand's products. The location is situated in a neighborhood known for architecture studios and galleries, attracting both trade professionals and design enthusiasts.
