Rome's MAM Media Art Museum Opens in Former Cinema with Immersive HyperMedia Show

Rome's first museum dedicated entirely to Media Art, MAM – Media Art Museum, opens on 9 October in a 1,000-square-meter space at Corso d'Italia 37/D, inside the renovated former Cinema Avila. Under the artistic direction of Gianluca Del Gobbo, the museum brings together over 25 years of experimentation in digital art, artificial intelligence and Net Art. Its centerpiece is a 300-square-meter immersive room where 27 projectors turn walls, ceiling and floor into a single visual environment, dissolving traditional spectator-work relationships. The permanent exhibition HyperMedia, curated by Del Gobbo, draws on the historical archive of Shockart.net and productions from the AVnode network, spanning Net Art, NFTs, AI art, interactive installations, immersive live performances and generative practices. The project positions technology as essential material for contemporary artistic experience. Artists featured in the opening program include Pandelis Diamantides, Alice Felloni, Bad Pedestrian, David Szauder, DECOL Media Arts Studio, Deliriouniversale.com(a), Francesca Fini, Ghassan Naji (g0naji), Joshua Davis, konx-om-pax, martae, SARV, Sergey Prokofyev, Susan Costi, Ultravioletto, and Userland.
