Rollins Museum of Art Acquires Historic 19th-Century Stained-Glass Window

The Rollins Museum of Art has announced the addition of a significant stained-glass window to its collection, donated by The First United Methodist Church Winter Park. Created in the late 1800s, this artwork titled 'A.F. Mueller’s Adoration of the Magi' was formally accessioned in February 2026. Measuring 15 feet by 5 feet, it portrays the biblical scene of the Magi visiting the infant Jesus. The window was produced by Mueller Mirror and Art Glass Works, a manufacturer based in Milwaukee, and reflects the popularity of European-inspired devotional stained glass in American religious buildings during that period. Originally located in the Reeves Memorial Methodist Church in Orlando at the intersection of Oregon Street and North Ferncreek Avenue, the window was moved to the Winter Park church after the Orlando congregation ceased operations in 2018. The donation coincides with the museum's ongoing construction of a new facility, situated just two blocks south of the donor church. This acquisition enhances the museum's holdings of historical American art and preserves a notable example of 19th-century craftsmanship.
