Richard Watts departs ArtsHub after 17-year tenure

Richard Watts OAM, Deputy Editor and Performing Arts Editor at ArtsHub, will leave the company on 5 July 2026 after 17 years. Since joining in May 2009, he authored over 2,000 articles and helped develop ArtsHub podcasts. Watts also presents SmartArts on Three Triple R FM (since December 2004), is a life member of Melbourne Queer Film Festival, a Melbourne Fringe Festival Living Legend, and won the 2019 Sidney Myer Performing Arts Awards’ Facilitator’s Prize. He received a Green Room Awards Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021 and an OAM in 2024. Watts plans to rest, work on creative writing, then seek a new role in arts management or administration. He will continue as Senior Contributing Writer for ArtsHub and ScreenHub freelance, and keep presenting on Three Triple R FM.
