Rever & Drage Transforms Traditional Norwegian Timber Cabin into Modern Red Residence
Architecture firm Rever & Drage has completed an extension and modernization of a traditional timber cabin in Rælingen, Norway, completed in 2025. The project, named Chr Tomter veg Cabin, was designed for a growing family on a narrow, constrained plot between two roads. The design retains the original structure's scale while adding new cabin-like volumes arranged in a linear sequence, creating three distinct forms linked by two gardens—one outdoor courtyard and one indoor winter garden. The additions include a two-story southern wing with bedrooms and an office, and a northern volume with a garage, rental unit, and study.
