Renoir's Summer: 10 Paintings from the French Impressionist

French Impressionist artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841–1919) spent the majority of his life in Paris, collaborating with notable figures like Claude Monet and Edgar Degas. During the 1870s and early 1880s, he dedicated himself to Impressionism, creating vibrant depictions of life in Paris. His work The Skiff (1875) showcases elegant women and boats on the Seine, utilizing rich blues and oranges. Woman with a Parasol in a Garden (1875) features two figures in a verdant Montmartre garden. Oarsmen at Chatou (1879) includes friends on the riverbank, among them Aline Charigot, who married Renoir in 1890. Other notable pieces include Wheatfield (1879), Near the Lake (1879–1880), and Luncheon of the Boating Party (1880–1881). Dance at Bougival (1883) is part of a trilogy and will be displayed at the Musée d'Orsay until July 19, 2026.
