Renault has introduced the 2026 Renault Twingo E-Tech, a fully electric compact car that revives design cues from the original 1992 Twingo Mk1 while incorporating modern features. The vehicle, revealed in late 2025, maintains proportions and details from the 1992 model and a 2023 concept by Sabine Marcelis, avoiding design compromises seen in earlier generations. Externally, it features 'smiling' front headlights with LED strips, a sloping bonnet, and 18-inch wheels, with dimensions increased to 3789mm in length. The interior blends analog and digital controls, including a center screen, physical dials, and a prominent red hazard button reminiscent of the Mk1. Practical elements include slidable rear seats offering 360-1010 liters of boot space and metallic accents matching the exterior. Technically, it uses a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, aerodynamic features like vertical fins on rear lights to extend range, and offers 163 miles of electric range. Driving features include a 'one-pedal' function and regenerative braking. Priced under £20,000, it targets urban and suburban customers with zero emissions and is set for sale in continental Europe in 2026 and the UK in early 2027, with pre-orders currently available.
