Rediscovered Ernest Cole vintage prints on view at Goodman Gallery New York
Goodman Gallery in New York is currently featuring an exceptional set of vintage prints from the renowned South African photographer Ernest Cole, which have come to light after over 40 years. These works vividly portray Black life in the U.S. during the late 1960s and early 1970s. They were previously held in the Hasselblad collection before returning to the Ernest Cole Family Trust. While some of Cole's American pieces are already part of collections like the Museum of Modern Art, this exhibition offers a rare chance to see these previously hidden artworks. Additionally, it aligns with the launch of 'The True America,' the first book dedicated to Cole's representation of Black Americans.
