Rare Ming Dynasty Gilt-Bronze Luohan Figures Headline Christie's Hong Kong Chinese Art Sale

On 30 April, Christie's Important Chinese Works of Art auction in Hong Kong will feature two remarkably rare gilt-bronze luohan figures from the early Ming dynasty. These intricately crafted sculptures portray monks in both Chinese and Indian styles, with inscriptions that reveal their original location within a temple setting. The auction will showcase nearly 100 outstanding Chinese ceramics and artworks, dating from the Shang to Qing dynasties. Highlights include archaic jades, bronzes, imperial ceramics, seals, and Buddhist sculptures, all of significant academic and collectible value. This event is part of Hong Kong Asian Art Week and is preceded by three other specialized live sales scheduled for spring.
